Melinda Atkinson LLB FCA
I have over 30 years experience as a chartered accountant supporting business owners. Having been a partner in an Essex practice I took the bold step in 2009 to establish Lucentum and this has become a successful business. My focus is very much on setting business goals and putting in place a strategy and organisation to achieve them. I also lead our corporate finance team which focusses on business acquisitions, mergers, sales and corporate reconstructions. I am a strong advocate of getting a proper work life balance and the ability to work remotely means I can spend my time between the UK and my house in Italy and still provide the same level of support the business demands.
Outside of work I take an active interest in most sports including rugby and cricket but also love playing golf, running, skiing and sailing as well as walking my dog. I also love food and drink and take an interest in wine although my favourite tipple is definitely a G&T.

I trained with one of the big six accounting firms but after 10 years realised that owner-managed businesses are best served by a more relatable smaller practice. I joined Lucentum as a partner in 2013 and continued to act for some clients that I have worked with for more than 20 years. My focus is on building long term partnerships with our clients and really getting to understand their business. I work with clients in lots of different sectors and in the past have been involved with a client that floated on AIM.
In my spare time I enjoy football, going to the gym and, being a bit of a petrol-head, all types of motorsport. I’ve also been known to do a bit of cycling.

I have 15 years experience as a chartered accountant supporting business owners. Having been offered partnership in a nationwide practice I decided that the better step would be to join the very capable team at Lucentum and add my particular skills to this business. Over the last two years, I have worked side by side with my clients to assist in minimising their tax bill and ensuring their company is working for them rather than vice versa. I pride myself in making sure that I’m always there for my clients and if I don’t know an answer to their question, I will ensure I find somebody who does.
Away from the office, I enjoy taking part in obstacle course racing (for which I recently competed in the OCR World Championships), trail running, bouldering, bike riding with my two kids and gardening with my wife.

After graduating from Imperial College, I trained at a local Essex-based firm. Since qualifying as a chartered accountant, I have spent the majority of the past 15 years supporting local business owners. I am a keen advocate of cloud-based accounting and focussing on saving my clients time and effort by utilising new technologies. I am also one of our audit principals.
Outside the office, I take a keen interest in most sports although I have retired from competitive participation after various injuries over the years so I now focus my efforts on the firm’s fantasy football competition.
